Hi agree with reviewer Corbitt's assessment of the instructions that come with this faucet. They are technically complete, but poorly written. I've put together a dozen or so faucets in my lifetime and they usually come with detailed instructions of about 15 steps, these instructions had a grand total of 3. You will need to have had some experience with faucet installation if you're going to attempt to install this one yourself as there are no instructions at all on how to install the drain assembly. They also don't explain how to actually put the handles on the valves. They don't screw on like most do, they push on. And you should really be sure you have them in the correct position before you push down because those suckers aren't coming off once they're on. ***In fact, don't put the handles on until the very LAST step*** Completely assemble the entire faucet, then pop the handles on.
I also had the same experience as Corbitt with the drain assembly. It actually looks like it's one fused piece, but it's not, it's two pieces and that connect. I wish I read the other review closer before assembling mine or I would have seen that. You really do need to disconnect the two pieces, put a few passes of teflon tape on the male treads and tighten those two pieces together really tight before assembling the rest of the drain.
Another word of caution when assembling as a 4" minispread. Do not tighten the valves down until the faucet piece is in and you're sure the faucet-to-valve water lines will have enough clearance for assembly.
All that said, this is a seriously nice quality faucet. It can be used as either a 4" minispread or 8" widespread, which is hard to find. The quality is apparent in the design. The valves open and close very smoothly and it looks really nice. Another nice touch, which I've never seen before, is an innovative faucet lift rod/pivot rod connection system. This is the rod you lift up that plugs the sink so you can fill it up.
Instead of that annoying lift rod that screws onto a piece of metal with a bunch of holes in it where the pivot rod goes in and gets held on with a pain in the butt spring clip, they use a single piece universal joint connector system. Just put the pivot rod and lifter rod where you want them, and screw the universal joint connector onto each. Holds like a champ and there's no annoying spring clip that to eventually pop off on you.
Would definitely purchase another one of these!
