We purchased this sink to be under mounted on a new countertop. The Kohler sink was a heaver gauge steel than our old one, which really made a big difference. Since it is heavier and stiffer, the sound from our garbage disposal is significantly reduced. Our only complaint is that the bottom of the sink has virtually no taper toward the drain. When filled with water and then drained, water will remain puddled up in the corners. This can get a little annoying if you don't wipe the sink down after using it.
