We just moved into a newly built home a little over a week ago. When it came to picking out fixtures for our new home, I absolutely did NOT want a double basin sink. In our old house, we had a white porcelain sink with two basins, and I absolutely hated it--the center divider was always getting in the way, and I was constantly cleaning it, as the white was so easily stained.

So, when we went to the plumbing supply store, I planned to get a simple, single basin stainless steel sink. It was my husband who first saw this unique black sink. The saleswoman explained that the material was a granite composite, and I was shock when she informed us that the cost was actually LESS than the single-basin stainless! There are several factors that make this sink so different than other double basins: 1) the left side is LARGE than the right--in fact, it's probably as large as most single basins (it's huge!), 2) the left side is also DEEPER than the right, and most significantly 3) the divider between the two sinks is LOWER than the top of the sink, meaning that it doesn't get in the way of large pots, cookie sheets, etc.

Since moving into the house, I just love using the sink. We have the garbage disposal in the smaller (right) side, so we find that this is more of a "prep" sink, although it is quite large on its own. As noted above, the main side of the sink is extremely roomy and a delight to use. Plus, it is gorgeous! (I never thought I'd say that about a sink, but it's true!) We chose a stainless single handle fixture by Delta (see uploaded photo), and it looks great with the sink.

One final note: like the rest of our just-built home, the sink was covered with construction dust when we moved in. Initially, I had some difficultly removing white residue in the sink, but I found that a combination of Mr. Clean sponge and Windex cleaned the sink quite well. Since then, I have had no problems keeping the sink clean simply by rinsing it out after use. I would highly recommend this attractive, functional kitchen sink!
