This fixture is very light weight. I purchased it in March 2012. The frame with the sockets is metal but is very thin and couldn't weigh more than 2 pounds. Even the shade is not at all heavy like I thought it would be. In other words, it's pretty chintzy. I would guess that this review would apply to the other Landmark Tiffany style semi-flush fixtures that have the same base with different but very similar styled shades. There are a lot of them here on Amazon and they cost even more than this one.

There were instructions obviously written by someone whose first language is not English. They were for hooking-up the wiring. There were no instructions for putting the light together. Since I was replacing an old fixture, the wiring was simple. It wasn't too bad to install BUT every part that had to do with assembly was put on incorrectly at the factory. For instance, the long screws that should go into the light box were pointed down and the short screws were pointed up. Also, the hardware meant to secure the shade and keep it from flopping were screwed on the stem incorrectly. With no clear diagrams or instructions regarding this, I had to keep rearranging things until I got a configuration that held the fixture flush to the ceiling and held the shade securely. And naturally these attempts all had to be done standing on a ladder trying to balance everything over my head.

To summarize, if you think this is a lot to spend on a light, think again. You get the quality one should expect for a fixture that costs about a hundred. Some of the solder on the shade was sloppy and there was some excess green "patina" on the frame that I had to gently sand-off. Overall, the fixture looks just fine but I am glad I didn't spend any more on it than I did.

UPDATE: It's now September 2012 and I just noticed that this lamp is now one seventy. I did not pay that much for this (I don't think I'm allowed to say what I paid?) so I would definitely now say that this fixture is over priced.
